A multi-center file transfer processing method and apparatus, used to realize unified sending and receiving of files between a regional exchange sub-center, a regional exchange main center and an intra-regional member institution in a multi-center bank card exchange system architecture. The present invention comprises: receiving a settlement file to be forwarded; acquiring a sender, a receiver and a file type of the settlement file to be forwarded; when the sender is a regional exchange sub-center, determining whether the file type is a local transaction-specific file, and if so, sending the settlement file to be forwarded to the receiver; when the sender is a regional exchange main center, determining whether the file type is a cross-regional transaction-specific file, and if so, sending the settlement file to be forwarded to the receiver. The present invention allows a settlement file or a transaction file to be smoothly forwarded between a member institution, a regional exchange sub-center and a regional exchange main center without modifying the member institution, regional exchange sub-center and regional exchange main center.
