Requirements
- Having irrigation engineers with at least 5 years of working experience as indicated in each scale of irrigation activities.
- The manager of the company must have at least a degree in irrigation and the director of the company must have a certificate in irrigation engineering
- Having sufficient capital and equipment specified for each scale of irrigation activities. The working capital shall cover at least 30% of total intangible assets.
- The company shall meet the conditions for operating irrigation related business.

- Renewal process
- 1. The license shall be renewed within 15 working days after its expiry date. If it exceeds the expiry date, the renewal will not be considered unless there are sufficient reasons provided, but no later than 30 working days. 2. The applicant shall submit all required documents to show its willingness to cooperate with the authority and to ease the renewal process of the license.
Additional comment
- Irrigation activities are categorized into 3 different scales. The licenses for large and medium scale irrigation shall be considered by the Irrigation Department, and then by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. - For small scale irrigation, it shall be submitted to the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Forestry (or of Vientiane Capital) for the consideration.
