Abstract

This application discloses a process of extracting bromine with alkali method, which consists of the following steps: Acid is added into bromine-containing brine to obtain acidified brine. Chlorine gas is fed into the acidified brine, resulting in free bromine oxidized from bromide ions therein, so as to obtain oxidized brine. The free bromine in the oxidized brine desorbs and diffirses into air by contacting the oxidized brine with air, so as to obtain de-brominated brine and bromine-containing air. The bromine-containing air is mixed with sodium hydroxide solution so that the free bromine therein is absorbed by the sodium hydroxide solution to obtain absorbed liquid and de-brominated air. Hydrochloric acid is added into the absorbed liquid, along with feeding chlorine gas and steam, leading to the acidification of the absorbed liquid by the hydrochloric acid so that the bromide ions therein become free bromine by the oxidation of the chlorine gas, with the free bromine heated and evaporated by the steam, obtaining acidified solution and bromine vapor. The bromine vapor is conveyed by the steam, with the finished bromine obtained by the condensation of condensed water. The finished bromine is stored. The process stated herein improves the bromine extraction effect.
